The latest

Updated February 2026

In February 2026, £4m of Visitor Levy funding was agreed for the Leith Links Masterplan, with the activity hub at its heart.

This marks a major milestone for the project following detailed design work, public consultations and sustained community support.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of next steps and delivery timelines. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.

Detailed design phase

The detailed design phase began in November 2023 following the public consultation that ran in October of the same year. The process, led by the Thriving Greenspaces team in partnership with landscape architects AtkinsRéalis and skatepark designers Betongpark, aimed to develop detailed proposals for the activity hub.

Our campaign supported the process; attending meetings, reviewing and feeding back on draft designs and sharing updates on our social channels.

The completed designs were published in two phases:

June 2025: Detailed designs for the skatepark, roller rink and pump track
December 2025: The wider landscape designs

Public toilets

New public toilets opened in July 2025, improving facilities for park users.

The project team

Thriving Greenspaces are the development team within the City of Edinburgh Council’s Parks and Greenspace staff group, who are leading the project.

AtkinsRéalis are the landscape architects commissioned by the Thriving Greenspaces team to develop the detailed design for the activity hub.

Betongpark are one of Europe’s leading skatepark design companies, based in London, commissioned by AtkinsRealis to design the wheeled sports area.

This is a group of representatives from local organisations, including our campaign group and Leith Links Community Council, along with our local councillors. The group meets intermittently to inform and consult on the developing designs.

2023 consultation

A consultation that focused exclusively on the layout of the activity hub, the specific features within it and concepts for the redevelopment of the pavilion building ran between 6 September 2023 and 21 October 2023.

The results and feedback received in response to the consultation informed the detailed design stage.
