Granton Gasholder 1 Park

Granton’s new Gasholder 1 Park opened earlier this year, transforming a neglected landmark into a new public space.

Built in and around the iconic steel frame that’s stood overlooking the waterfront for over a century, the circular park is part of the council’s £1.3bn Granton Waterfront regeneration project.

Key features of the space include:

🛝 Play equipment for different age groups
🏓 Table tennis table
🪑 Social seating
🐋 Public art
🚶 Inner ring walk
🟢 Circular grass area

It’s easy to get to by bus or bike, and just a short walk from recently relocated The Pitt, Silverknowes Promenade and Granton Castle Walled Garden.

Another good example of what can happen when derelict spaces are reimagined for people – and well worth a visit.
