The Thriving Greenspaces team have released the landscape layout for the new public toilets planned for Leith Links as part of their ‘Public Toilets in Parks’ project.

From the Thriving Greenspaces team:
“These plans prioritise:
• Accessibility: Smooth pathways and user-friendly layouts.
• Functionality: A seating area, bike racks, and an external water tap for trees and green roof maintenance.
• Integration: A design that aligns with the unique characteristics of each park while enhancing ease of navigation.
The designs were developed in collaboration with park users, community groups, and officers, ensuring they reflect both practical needs and local priorities. We have worked closely with tree and park officers, utility companies, and groundworkers to address challenges such as root protection areas, utility connections, and access to the modular units.”
The unit is currently under construction off-site and is due to be in place on the Links by the end of May.
As part of the Leith Links Working Group, we were involved in the design process for the toilets and we’re incredibly excited to see the plans take another step closer to reality.
This important facility will be the first new development in the bowling green area since the tennis courts were installed in 2013. Hopefully it’s the first of many🤞
