Support permanent public toilets

Let the council know that Leith Links deserves permanent public toilets!

In all of the consultations, conversations and meetings that we’ve been involved in over the past couple of years, one of the recurring themes has been the lack of toilets in the park.

In her article ‘Access to public toilets is an equalities issue’ (URL below*), Suzanne Audrey, a senior research fellow in public health, describes that “the lack of public toilets can cause embarrassment and distress; cause particular problems for children, women, mobile workers, disabled people and people with chronic illnesses; incur costs related to medical, social and hygiene services, and; affect the perception of visitors and tourists.”

It’s in all of our interests to have accessible, well-maintained toilets available for park users, so it’s great to see that the proposals the Leith Links Activity Hub include permanent public toilets, disabled toilets and Changing Places Rooms in the refurbished pavilion.

Show your support for permanent public toilets and share your feedback on the rest of the proposals by completing the consultation by the 21st of October (link in our bio).
