Our pal @ez.fong recently did a climbing recce of this activity park on the banks of the River Clyde, developed as part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games legacy, which includes Scotland’s first outdoor bouldering park.
Here’s what he had to say:
“Beautiful sunny weather is scarce in the UK and really should not be wasted.
Decided to try outdoor bouldering for the first time at Cuningar Loop and what an experience it was.
Unlike the indoor bouldering gyms, you have a bit more freedom on how you start and finish a climb. There are no colours to guide you, you work with the rocks and what feels right. Almost like your body and the rocks are communicating on what works in unison. Felt quite zen and somewhat peaceful.
I loved it and would recommend to give a try. I made two new expat friends here and was fun working on routes with them. Hope to bump into them again at the climbing gyms.
Just enjoying the outdoors and the natural weather & sounds of nature is just pure bliss.”
Cunningar Loop also boasts:
✅ 3x bike tracks: balance bike, pump and skill building.
✅ Woodland workout
✅ Adventure playground
✅ Outdoor classroom
…and it’s one of the inspirations for our campaign.
Let’s get some bouldering rocks in Leith! 🧗
